don't really like the mc for this
they helped him throughout and he did nothing for them and just let them die for his personal needs

Aerlis Ambrosius • 1 year ago

The mc in cultivation stories are not usually heroes, at least not in the Western sense of the word. Since filial piety (to one's family) the the greatest virtue in Eastern culture, then revenge against those who have harmed your family is considered the only acceptable morality. In a sense, we often see mc's in various cultivation stories doing despicable deeds (by our standards) and being entirely celebrated for it. The clear difference in Western notions of morality is the sense of belief in an objective good and evil, completely separated from ones own selfish interests. This is in opposition to the Eastern notions of filial piety being the most paramount good. In this way our mc here is perceived as "good" - no matter what he does, in pursuit of justice for his family...in addition to the acquisition of personal power, which is inseparable from family power. In this scenario it is believed that "the ends justify the means"

Here we can clearly see both the virtues and failings of both Eastern and Western notions of morality. In pursuit of filial piety, the ends really do justify the means...in the minds and perception of the East. While Western thought calls this evil.

Conversely the failure of Western society to recognize objective interests of the group has given rise to endless virtue signaling and victim idolization. This is also quite evil. I think traditional societies and anyone raised with good parents can see what is going on in America right now as objectively evil. The entire SJW+alphabet soup - religion of Woke is prima facie evidence societal moral decay on an epic scale.

The pendulum will always swing the other way...eventually. Some are saying there will be a traditionalist (right wing?) tyrant dictator and we will all vote for him and welcome his iron rule with open arms if he promises a return to traditional normalcy and decency. Perhaps this is also good?

wow, what an essay! really enjoyed reading this & your ability to break it down objectively

Aerlis Ambrosius • 1 year ago

Thank you. I usually try stick to only making stupid and mundane comments, but occasionally I still slip up.

Damn!

Robert • 1 year ago

Disagree with your ‘prima facile’ assessment - actually virtue signalling and victim idolisation/sjw + alphabet soup - religion of woke has more to do with Eastern ‘filial piety’ than western morality.
-
Ultimately religion of woke has become about a ‘victim groups’ or ‘victim families’ and the advantage they can gain or the ‘revenge’ they can gain for perceived injustices by the greater society as a whole - much like Luo Yun getting revenge for his ‘family’ despite the moral dubiousness of his methods.
-
The reason for the backlash against the religion of woke is because by it’s very nature and by western moral values - one can see it’s actions are hypocritical and morally bankrupt - whether you talk about BLM, trans, LGBTQI\A’s, #metoo - much like Luo Yuan’s actions or inactions in this episode.

Aerlis Ambrosius • 1 year ago

I see your point. And I can understand where you are coming from. I don't disagree. Perhaps different ways of looking at it through different lenses. Its like the 36 views of Mt. Fuji taken from different villages. Each exquisite Ukio-e style ink brush drawing is different, yet all deptict Mt. Fuji. I suppose I left out the important concept of individualism in Western civilization vs. Collectivism in Eastern. Throughout most of human history an individual was subservient to the group. In Western civilization we saw the rise of freedom and individual rights. In the USA they are enumerated in the Constitution. Generally these are about what the government can not do to the individual nor take away from him. So they usually begin with the preface of: "Congress shall pass no law that restricts the right of the people...to do X" The idea is that the rights are already known and understood to exist. They are NOT granted to the citizen by the Constitution, instead the people are telling the government that Congress can't take away these rights that already exist. Thus the idea that there can possibly exist a right to someone else's property or labor or that because you feel offended is both ludicrous and unconstitutional. Or to restrict someone's else's free speech or that an artist, (like say a baker or photographer) is REQUIRED to accept your messaging if it conflicts with his fervently held morals and or religious beliefs is also incorrect and no such rights exist. These concepts were invented out of whole cloth using the pseudo-moralistic so-called "rights" of people who belong to some victim group to elevate their status to overlord and force compliance with their malcontent views or morals. I suppose this is where I got the concept that the mischaracterized false and invented "rights" of malcontent parasitic individuals are used to bludgeon society ie. "the group" into submission. Whereas in contrast in Asia, the idea of these kinds of individual rights never really existed till the latest few generations. Any nails that stood out got roughly pounded back into submission to the collective interest of society.

Robert • 1 year ago

Ah but in this case the MC is only acting in his own/family interest and against the group or established society as a whole. He is the nail that sticks up. In fact it strangely sets a dangerous precedent that you are justified in bringing down the CCP for filial reasons.

Just to clarify my comparison was like sjws our MC is targeting a group for their perceived evil against him and his family, in which all in the group is guilty as in collective punishment without nuance in realising their are good people in that group, nor targeting only the perpetrators nor interest in proportional punishment. Hence why I guess most people from the west have a problem with his actions.

Much like all white men are blamed for whatever ills by sjws.

OfficialDrixMalone • 1 year ago

But he did single out those undeserving, including his students. Now there's always a indirect consequence (and the sword asters death was unfortunate but they killed themselves), guess the MC indirectly caused their death but his goal is priority.

It's all messed up, a chain of events, a domino effect that involves many others, rather guilty or innocent smh. The two sects happen to f*cck with the wrong family who had a person who was crazy, bold and brave enough to seek vengeance, rectifying their wrongs and bad decisions that affected him personally (mentally, physically and emotionally). Most just take the loss and move on with their lives angry or something, but he had the intellect and means to do it so now we're here entertainingly watching him orchestrate a war as the MC with bloodlust, hatred and it's too deep to turn back 🤷🏾‍♂️. He couldn't bare the pain in his heart so he went down this path (and then had his woman kidnapped so he was forced to do some ugly acts even more), and there's way more to come and be seen.

Aerlis Ambrosius • 1 year ago

@Robert - I can definitely see where you are coming from here. A very good analysis.

OfficialDrixMalone • 1 year ago

Hell no, to everything you said in your last sentence, that'd be terrible and they'd be stupid to vote for such person. But the world is full of sheeps led in flocks to the slaughter, so easily fooled, wanting to be herded and led by strangers without any proof smh. And many will die for such decisions, this happens everywhere not just Amerikkka and Asia.

"My people are destroyed for their lack lacking knowledge." - Hosea 4:6.

Mathew 7:15 "Beware of false prophets, which come to you in sheep's clothing, but inwardly they are ravening wolves."

I guess you decide what is right and follow it, joined by other like-minded folks, while the opposite does the same. It all comes down to beliefs and preferences, which decides if they believe they're right and the other is wrong, vice versa. Next thing you know, thousands of people are dead smh. Is the MC wrong or right, well in this donghua, as the MC, he's just and plot armor will back him up and make sure he's right lmao 🤷🏾‍♂️.

Aerlis Ambrosius • 1 year ago

haha the reason I put it like this:
" traditionalist (right wing?) tyrant dictator"
Is that the political left is defined as bigger government and the more you move to the right you get smaller government, less government control/intrusion on your life - thus a "right wing tyrant dictator" is an oxymoron! But large numbers of otherwise intelligent and well meaning (yet ignorant) people don't understand this. Moving to the right is less and less government, it doesn't suddenly jump to totalitarian (total government control/fascism). Yes, you can find it in modern dictionaries, those written after roughly 1991, due to commies attempting to re-write history as the National Socialist experiment in WW2 Germany is today something of an embarrassment for the left. Since the Frankfurt School professors emigrated to Columbia University and spread their disgusting post modernism to nearly every college and university, you now see a situation where most college history professors are commies themselves and go along with the Orwellian 1984 re-writing of history. And yet the original sources are still available for you to read. Newspapers and magazine articles as well as academic papers in the 1920's & 1930's in the USA show clearly that the Democrats and the political left embraced the fascism of both Italy and Germany and declared themselves brothers in socialism. There were quite a few celebrities and academics who went on the record on this. Your use of "kkk" in the word "America" is rather telling. You might be interested to know that particular organization is and was a wholly owned subsidiary of the Democrat party.

OfficialDrixMalone • 1 year ago

Bet you didn't expect me to say that huh, mr. "your kkk in Amerkkka is telling" lol. Naw jk.

OfficialDrixMalone • 1 year ago

I personally believe both parties are leading everyone to the same slaughterhouse, so I don't particularly care for either.

Aerlis Ambrosius • 1 year ago

I don't much care for either party. Republicans are (at best) spineless pussies who mouth all the right noises about freedom and small government but do the reverse. The GOP is generally comprised of gutless, feckless, witless, dickless fools and hypocrites, save for maybe 2 or 3 heroes. But Democrats are a satanic death cult of baby killing monsters who pretend they are good. Those who vote for Demonrats are either ignorant, brainwashed rubes, criminally insane or plain evil.

TheMMSpirit • 1 year ago

They crippled his father, destroyed his family, and imprisoned his mother for torture for like 16 or 17 years. These exact people helped the sect do these things.

They are generally supportive subordinates of his disguise, so that absolves them of their guilt?

Yeah, these cultivators seem to obey orders mindlessly. They seem to lack today's Western notion of obedience only to a point. Never obey an order unlawful, immoral, or demeaning. That is the modern Western notion that our armed forces follow now.

Once, when I was only a corporal in the Marine Corps, the sergeant major of our unit was running a mess when we were deployed - dollar a hot dog, quarter for a coffee, ect. The problem was I saw him take a huge tin of coffee from the mess hall and he told me to go and make some coffee for it. i refused on the spot - I just saw you stealing government property to resell for your own profit, and you want me to perform personal servitude for you? He even tried to push Article 15 punishment on me, so I refused and demanded a courts martial - so the SM was in real danger of himself going to prison or thrown out. The quarrel between us got hushed up, and I got a bad review for a quarter, but what could they really do?

curazon • 1 year ago

dude these 4 were never a part of it or any other politics of the pavillion and it was the 2 mfs who found his parents location and rest was done by the pavillion leader and star sect also one of them is known for being fair(the one who died first) so I don't think they deserved such a death

TheMMSpirit • 1 year ago

You're right - these 4 were unlikely to be directly the cause of problems with the Chu family. Yet, did you think the sect leaders of the Starry Sky? Wanjian? - whatever their names were - personally carried out crippling and slaughtering the Chu family?

These 4 were elders at the time, it stands to reason they took part. Also, what about the huge manhunt the 2 sects carried out for the couple? Again, it was very likely these 4 had some part in at least direction and supervision of disciples searching for them - as well as pillaging the Chu.

curazon • 1 year ago

Dude the people who did it directly, he has already taken revenge on them, one was the wu guy who he killed then revived other was the family of his wife and other family from the same kingdom, these people were never involved

OfficialDrixMalone • 1 year ago

Of course they didn't deserve their deaths, but let's not act like you didn't see those idiots literally KILL THEMSELVES smh. Yes you could say Xingyun caused their deaths indirectly but they also wouldn't have died if they shut up and stayed behind, reaching the ones who could be reasoned with while the other idiots, blood lusters and crooked criminals ready to die and kill fought with the pavilion master. All I'm saying is they had options, many in fact, that didn't require slitting your throat, or the Chinese word/characters for Japanese word "seppuku." They were indeed commendable individuals, idk if you're blaming the MC or not but again, they killed themselves, what else could the MC do??

As for the people responsible for the Chu families demise, I don't think everyone has been dealt with yet, that's a large list. And the people who died already that he killed, even the ones not directly involved in any of his past traumas, became problematic and were such pricks, scums of the earth. I think he decided they can be disposed of too along with his targets, like at the holy city circle. I believe he still has a conscience, as he doesn't just slaughter any and everyone he can, from what I've seen (before orchestrating a war between both sects), he tested some and they failed, he gave chances and even to those that were sh!tty human beings.

But the war part, he didn't care too much, his goal is to get enough resources (financially and an army of corpses) to save his wife and also get revenge, which is supplying him with all 3, he's killing 2 birds with one stone.

OfficialDrixMalone • 1 year ago

I was agreeing with you until you said "Never obey an order unlawful, immoral, or demeaning. That is the modern Western notion that our armed forces follow now." You have to be kidding right?? Because all kkkops don't follow this "LAW" unless you're talking about strictly military (though even then, I'd still have to disagree, especially since you just told a memory of how your SM was NOT following such laws lmao.

OfficialDrixMalone • 1 year ago

What exactly did you want him to do?? Would you do something if you were in his shoes, endangering yourself (when it wasn't the plan) and possibly foil his plans and all his hard work?? Mind you, his priorities are to rescue his wife, which he needs an army for, this sect war gives him both the resources AND vengeance simultaneously. Forgive him that he didn't try to stop them and die by a demonic maniac with a legendary sword that he just used to dissect a sect master of the same cultivation realm lol.

But seriously, you wouldn't have either, he isn't wrong, he was being smart, he started this to begin with anyway. At least he saved their souls/bodies, he even bowed in respect showing appreciation so give the guy a break ahaha.

Critik • 1 year ago

Yea I wish he atleast spoke on their behalf or try to save them.

OfficialDrixMalone • 1 year ago

Are you serious, question, would YOU honestly do that in his shoes??

Critik • 1 year ago

Yep!

OfficialDrixMalone • 1 year ago

Oh ok.

He did come back for them, so I think he might try to resurrect them.

curazon • 1 year ago

he just said will take your soul and stuff the guy is basically planning to make them puppets like those two mfs

OfficialDrixMalone • 1 year ago

Ahahaha that's some crazy shii huh, damn smh.

Kyo • 1 year ago

just got a strong sword is about to kill and kill everyone !!! crazy power and rank !!!

OfficialDrixMalone • 1 year ago

And people ignorantly saying the MC should've done something for those 4 idiots, how unreasonable (though probably good people, they still slit their own throat which pisses me off).

maxwell kanov • 1 year ago

But in all honestly, I know, plenty of people are upset, mad, disappointed, or etc. about what happen with the four swords masters, just watch the episodes, maybe later in the series a theory could be made why luo yun watch them die.

Joseph Gilbert • 1 year ago

nooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo

0hMyV1n • 1 year ago

If only they were females, I'm sure the MC would find a way to resurrect them :< I hate the MC for this. He just observed from a distance while the 4 committed suicides.

OfficialDrixMalone • 1 year ago

You hate him because he didn't step in putting himself in danger even more for 4 idiots who could've lived (just like the rest of the members of pavilion sect)?? You're not too bright are you aha smh...

Enve Me • 1 year ago

Shouldnt they be more pissed off at the mc???? knowing he plotted to make them fight????what they just fogot he was there the whole time

OfficialDrixMalone • 1 year ago

That's better for him, otherwise he'd be in sever danger with that demonic maniac running around like He-man. Though I do wonder why no one targeted the MC at all, maybe a brain fart moment by the author or studio, to keep the MC safe otherwise he'd probably be dead or having the fight of his life like before when he became crippled and had to change his identity smh. Maybe he could survive, he does have a powerful small army, but you'd think he'd be a target.

maxwell kanov • 1 year ago

Damn, they are dropping people from the story, left and right, sheet by the time this donhua is over there ain't gonna be no one left. These people wild. Fan wujie he a homan.

rangle jose • 1 year ago

what i failed to understand is the other 2 who wanted mc to be assassinated died right and then now that he falsely revealed that he helped their master to invade the star sect wouldnt it raise suspicion beacuse the proof was for invading and their reason is to kill the mc but then the mc in their mind raided their star sect these 2 things dont connect

rangle jose • 1 year ago

this is just bad story writing those 2 parts dont connect

Sung Jin Woo • 1 year ago

oh no need to wait again
